This unique image was captured atop Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawaii in January with the wind gusting over 50 mph. A winter storm had recently dropped snow amongst the astronomical observatories. Gemini observatory is prominent in the left foreground. The bit of land sticking up below the sun is the island of Maui.

I'm a Saint Louis based artist who enjoys photography as a creative interaction with the world, from landscape vistas and wildlife to urban scenes.
